If you have had an eye exam recently but forgot your prescription a good general rule for selecting the proper power is as follows: Take your age and subtract 35 and then put a decimal point in between the two figures and round up to the nearest 0 or 5. For example, if you are 50, subtract 35, which equal 15 then put a decimal point in between the 1 and 5 so your power is a +1.5. If you are 47, subtract 35 that equal 12 or 1.2. Round to +1.0. Remember that this is a general rule and not a full proof method for prescribing reading glasses.
